Inclusive environment mapping

This professional learning session explores inclusive practice through the lens of belonging, participation, and accessibility. Examine common barriers to inclusion and identify strategies to ensure all children, including those with disability or developmental diversity, can fully participate in the program.

Guided by the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the session will consider:

• physical mapping and traffic flow, including room layout, zone balance, and entry and exit points

• sensory mapping to identify visual and auditory hot spots, as well as olfactory and tactile zones that allow children to opt in cultural and social mapping to strengthen representation, belonging and sustainability

• action planning to assess current spaces and set measurable goals for inclusive environmental change
