Language rehab

Do we ever take time to think about how we talk to children? Why do we say what we say in the ways we do and does it matter?

How can we unpack and understand why we say what we say, to make changes for quality interactions with children?

Join us to examine how children experience what we’re saying. Why do I ask the one year old ‘how are you’ on arrival at the service? What do I mean and what am I expecting? How could I communicate what I really want the child to experience from me?

How about ‘good girl, good boy, good job;’ ‘use your words;’ ‘say sorry.’ How has the use of these phrases become common place and what might our use of them be doing to children?
