Understanding restrictive practices in ECEC: from policy to practice
This session supports educators and leaders to unpack the intent and application of restrictive practice guidance within early childhood settings. Explore what constitutes a restrictive practice, how these may unintentionally appear in daily routines, and how educators can move toward inclusive, rights-respecting alternatives. Practical strategies will be explored to support children’s autonomy, dignity, and emotional safety while meeting regulatory expectations.
