Parenting Programs

Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P)

Gowrie SA offers the Circle of Security Parenting program, including weekly hour-and-a-half sessions for 8 weeks at our Thebarton site. This course provides a roadmap assisting adults to build stronger relationships with their children.

This course translates attachment theory in an accessible way for families using group discussion and DVD examples. It is particularly valuable when family members participate together. Facilitators are trained in this approach and come from a range of backgrounds including early education, health and family wellbeing.

Fatherhood Project

Gowrie SA provides a range of services for fathers/male caregivers and their children through the Fatherhood Support Project.

The project aims to support men caring for children aged 0-12 and to assist them in building strong and positive relationships with their child(ren).

Programs within this project include weekend fun activity sessions, playgroups and parenting programs, facilitated by our Fatherhood Worker and other staff. All programs are offered free of charge to participants.

Sunday Fun for Dads & Kids takes place on the first Sunday of every month at the Seaton North Neighbourhood Centre, and provides men with a great opportunity to have fun with their child(ren) aged 0-12 in a relaxed environment with other Dads, Grandfathers, Uncles, Carers etc. We also offer 8-week Circle of Security Parenting programs specifically for men. Please check out the links below for further details of these programs.

The project also involves partnering with UnitingCare Wesley Bowden to co-facilitate a weekly playgroup every Thursday from 10-11:30am including school terms and school holidays at 58 Dale Street, Port Adelaide. Open to all the family with children aged up to 5.

Please feel free to contact us on 8234 5219 with any questions or to find out more details about these services.
