Sharing ideas from practice:
Talking and Thinking Floorbooks® for OSHC services

 

An interactive session for OSHC services on implementing the child-led Floorbooks Approach to observation, planning and documentation.

In May 2018, a collaboration between the Department for Education, Claire Warden and Gowrie SA provided a unique opportunity for a group of OSHC services to be involved in a project exploring Quality Area 1 – Educational Program and Practice through the Floorbook Approach. 

You are invited to join with the participants from the project in an interactive and inspiring sharing session facilitated by Briony Brooks, Claire Warden Associate.   
In this session you will see examples of Floorbooking documentation and hear about the ways these sites have explored QA1. Learn about ways to build the capacity of OSHC Educators around the cycle of planning, documentation and involving children in documentation processes.

There is so much exploration, creativity and learning that comes through working with clay! 

Join a  practical clay workshop at Gowrie SA with experienced pottery teacher and artist Alison Arnold, who will take you through techniques of hand building with clay, the textures and surface properties of clay, intentional teaching strategies, how and when to fire it, where to purchase from and most importantly time to create with clay!

Learn about the fascinating functions of our bodies and organs, muscles, skeleton and joints. Discover how to use different prototypes and models, and learn about the development of our sense of self.

Talking trauma in early childhood | Wednesday, 24th October

This new session will introduce the concept of trauma in early childhood. Participants will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of trauma, its impact and how it manifests in children’s behaviour. Young children are more vulnerable to trauma as they are dependent on adults for their care and safety. In this session we will explore ways to support children from trauma backgrounds through the exploration of specific scenarios and resources for trauma informed practice. $90 p.p. | Register
